Did you know that there’s a whole field dedicated to understanding the space people maintain between each other?

It’s called proxemics, and it categorizes personal space in western cultures into four zones:

- The public zone (>12 feet), typically where we interact with strangers in public spaces (e.g., parks)

- The social zone (4-12 feet), where we engage with acquaintances (like conversing with a delivery driver)

- The personal zone (1.5-4 feet), where interactions with friends occur (like chatting with a colleague)

- The intimate zone (<1.5 feet), where we connect with those we're romantically involved with

If a woman flirts with you by stepping into your intimate zone, it’s a strong indication that she feels sexual attraction.

Think about it: by moving closer, she’s inviting you into her personal space...

This suggests she feels at ease with you and wants to be physically close.

That’s typically a promising sign 🥰

Of course, there are exceptions!

Just because a woman enters your intimate space doesn’t mean she’s looking for sex. She could just be a seatmate on a plane, for example 😉✈️

To take a step back...

Signs by themselves don't convey much.

However, the more signs you notice, and the more these signs make sense within the context of your relationship, the higher the likelihood that she’s genuinely sexually attracted to you.

Among individual signs, her moving close to you, especially when within <18 inches, is a powerful indicator 🌶️

2. She can’t take her gaze off you

Picture this: you’re in a café, and a lovely woman walks in. Dressed in workout gear, her hair is pulled back, and she looks appealing 👀

Isn’t it challenging to look away when you’re attracted to someone?

Women experience this too!

If she keeps glancing your way, it’s often a sign of her sexual interest.

Research by body language expert Monica Moore found that women frequently scan a room to catch a man’s attention and often establish prolonged eye contact to signal him to take action.

Of course, just because she’s staring doesn’t automatically mean she can’t wait to get intimate.

For example, she might be unable to look away because you spilled something on yourself 😅

Yet, when combined with other signs, sustained eye contact can suggest significant attraction and chemistry.

Another eye-related clue to watch for: dilated pupils.

If you’re close enough to see her pupils are enlarged, it’s likely that she's sexually attracted to you 🔥

3. She makes herself available to you

Ever notice how you might impulsively say you’re free when someone you’re keen on asks about your weekend, even if your schedule is packed?

Women do the same!

If a girl is drawn to you, she’ll seek ways to make herself available!

Availability can take several forms, for example:

- She might reply with “no real plans” if you inquire about her weekend...

- She might actively check if you have any plans...

- She’s generally enthusiastic when it comes to spending time together...

I often emphasize that effort equals interest, making the last point crucial. If she’s not open to making plans for in-person meetings (like being evasive about scheduling dates), she likely isn’t attracted to you, either romantically or sexually, and it might be time to move on.

4. She smiles and is happy around you

This one is quite straightforward...

- Women typically experience positive emotions linked to arousal

- Women also feel positive emotions towards men they find appealing 

So if she’s cheerful around you, there's a stronger chance she feels sexual chemistry!

Two specific cues to look for:

- Her smile. Does she smile often in your presence? If so, is she simply being polite, or genuinely happy to see you? A genuine smile involves the entire face (e.g., narrowing eyes) and is a universal signal of pleasure 😃

- Her laughter. If she laughs at your jokes, it indicates shared humor and attraction, which are both promising for your romantic prospects 😏

5. She playfully teases you

Teasing is one of my favorite ways to flirt.

When a woman feels comfortable enough to tease you playfully, it often suggests she feels sexual attraction.

Why is that?

- Teasing typically requires a level of comfort and closeness.

- It’s intentionally provocative, aiming to foster further interaction.

For instance, if you compliment a girl on her outfit and she responds with a playful jab...

🗣️ SHE SAYS: You would like that, wouldn’t you?

Or perhaps you’re feeling chemistry with a colleague, and during a discussion about a project, she responds with a playful remark...

🗣️ SHE SAYS: Aren’t you Mr. Smarty Pants?

That’s flirting and quite possibly an indication of her sexual interest in you!

As mentioned previously, if a woman you’re engaging with feels comfortable getting close to you (particularly if she enters your "intimate zone")...

It's likely she feels sexual attraction ⚡

If she also initiates touch, it’s an even stronger signal!

When a woman places her hand on your leg, arm, or face, it’s often a deliberate gesture aimed at creating a closer physical connection and escalating romantic feelings.

Physical contact is a key element of intimacy and desire...

If she initiates touch, respond by returning the gesture and actively building that connection.

Of course, context matters. If your flirty coworker touches your hand while laughing at your joke in the office...

- This is a sign she’s attracted to you!

- This isn't an invitation to immediately escalate to more intimate activities.

In essence, it’s fair to associate touch with romantic intent, but be mindful of the situation and proceed carefully 😎

7. She touches herself around you

Did you know that women tend to be more sensitive to physical touch than men?

A well-known JNeurosci study on touch noted that women are typically smaller than men, resulting in a higher density of nerve endings, making them more attuned to physical sensations!

With this in mind...

If she touches herself while you’re together, it can often indicate her sexual attraction towards you.

For instance, if she caresses her own wrist, thigh, or neck, she may be:

- Imagining what it would feel like for you to touch her there 💭

- Signaling her desire for you to make that contact 🙋‍♀️

If she interacts with a personal item (like a handbag or something cylindrical, such as a wine glass), it may hint at secret or subconscious sexual desires!

8. She sends you photos of herself

Both women and men often exchange photos during the courtship process!

Images can help us:
